The good - picture quality, headrest material was nice, price was attractive

The bad - poor manual making installation and adjusting of features and settings difficult
The really bad - sound quality was terrible on one unit and nearly as bad on a second. Had no choice than to return them as my 11 year old couldn't even enjoy the very first movie we tried to play because there was humming / static overpowering the intended audio.

Really wanted them to work, was really upset that I spent so much time installing only to be disappointed. Thought maybe just had a bad unit, but the second one was nearly as bad so returned for refund. Five stars for Amazon honoring the return.

The dvd player works great so far, and has many extras such as the usb and sd card reader. Also, the ir transmitter is great, as I no longer have to hear scooby doo and spongebob all day long. The headphones do not come with, but they are very reasonable at Wal-mart or elsewhere.The only issue I had with this product is the fact that it does not come with a 12v cigarette plug, only the bare leads. I had to run to radio shack and spend another 10 bucks to get the adapter. Wish that was made more clear before I bought the item. The install took me about an hour, and most of the time was spent figuring out how to get the back of my seat off. Do yourself a favor and find out before attempting to do this or you will end up breaking the seat.All in all, a good product, especially for the price. Matches my seats perfectly and you can't even really tell it is there.

Highs: 1yr warranty. Better quality than non-branded units on ebay. Ability to connect 2 headrests together to play and watch from either or both headrests. Infra-Red headphone capable but not included.

Lows: Games/game controller are low quality. No headphones.

I purchased this Pyle DVD headrest to replace a similar looking non-branded DVD headrest that I purchased on ebay that only lasted 30days before the display went out. I will never get burned by ebay and questionable sellers with no warrany and a 7-day return policy again. Note: I wasn't able to leave feedback to warn others on ebay because it was past 30days. Ebay simply said Oh-well, that's our policy.

This Pyle DVD headrest has a 1 year warranty and it has the video/audio in/out cables to connect 2 of these DVD headrest in the car. The kids love the option of watching their own movie or watching the same movie. Our kids are 6 and 8, so my wife or I usually have to get the movies going because the remote might be confusing, at least until they get used to it.

The Pyle DVD headrest is better quality than the ebay unit I replaced. For example, the hinge is more robust and the flat, flexible ribbon cables have a strain relief and guide to prevent damage. All around it seems that Pyle's engineering specified a higher end product. The instruction manual is also better than the off-brand unit that I have.

The IR headphones that we had from the previous headrest work perfect with the Pyle DVD headrest and have both A and B channels. I wish Pyle included a set.

Don't buy it for the games.

The only thing I don't like about this thing is that it does not run on android or ios. Seriously, these companies need to stop making touchscreen devices without consulting a true touch os company. Navigation maps are not easy to use on this $700 monster, but an iPod touch from 2 years ago scream for $300, which includes the tom-tom app.

Fortunately they only made these units for a short period of time. I had always been a big Pioneer fan until this piece of garbage which turned into a waste of a thousand bucks. From the get go this thing gave me problems. The load up time is long. The touch screen is terrible. The screen would occasionally freeze. Then this puppy just gave out. Right out of warranty the unit started powering up and down constantly whenever the car moved. It would work when the car was stopped. I did some research on the internet and found this was a common problem with this unit. And it seems to happen to everyone right out of warranty. I called Poneer and they are willing to do nothing to rectify the situation. I have to pay someone to remove and reinstall the unit, pay for shipping and $200 for them to reload the software. I really dont think it is worth it because functioning this thing is a headache. So beware and my advice avoid this thing!

This deck is worth every penny I paid for it. It is a little slow on startup, but makes up for that with the beautiful and easy to navigate interface. My friend has the Clarion NZ-409 (same as the NX-409) and the interface and features are plain and boring. You couldn't ask for more features on this unit with the built in Bluetooth, sleek design, voice commands, DVD playback, and Navigation. If you can handle 30 seconds without music and 1 minute without menu interaction than there is no reason NOT to get this deck. A+ to Pioneer!

The Pionner AVIC f900BT delivers. Installation is pretty straight forward and easy. The system does everything you expect and want. The only downside is the FN Tuner. While it functions well, it does not have scrolling text that some stations prodcast on traditional local stations. Aside from that everything is top notch! The updates to the Navigation system make this top notch! The GPS and the iPOD setup is nothing short of fantastic. All the steering wheel controls synced up great and the DVD player works great! Super happy with this unit. Bluetooth syncs great with my blackberry storm and pulls in all contacts. I would recommend this product.

this cd changer was a bargain compared to all other changers i looked at on amazon.com. and it even had the amazon store as seller. i got it for almost $50 less than others listed as new. the installer had problems with the connection between the changer and the lcd readout on the dash of my car. he had to tape it in an awkward position to keep the display from going dark. he said this would only be a quick fix to the problem. maybe the changer was NOT a new produdct. i also had problems on the road with radio stations bleeding thru the music as i passed thru large cities. amazon is welcome to exchange the changer but i'll end up hiring the installer to take this one out and install the replacement changer which will cost me more than the changer itself. i should have gone with an in-dash single cd-player with mp3 technology to avoid all these problems. lesson learned??? go with newer technology eventhough you THINK you're speding more money! on the road to az...

I was a little nervous going into this purchase because I'd never heard of Pyle and I didn't know how easy the installation would be since I was planning to do it myself. I've had it installed for several months now. The installation was fairly simple once I know which wires to connect to in the van. The unit performs well and loads relatively quickly. I would recommend this and other Pyle DVD players to other people. My kids really enjoy being able to watch their movies on our longer trips.

I haven't had this thing for long but so far my experience has been wonderful. I had been using off-brand stereos up until I bought this and I was absolutely amazed at how much better the sound quality was after they installed it.Even in my old '91 Accord with stock speakers, this thing gets LOUD and the sounds is clear and crisp. The Equilizer is simple but effective and it's easy to change the custom setting without really even looking so you don't have to worry about driving unsafely.The design is nice and solid and the detachable face plate actually houses all the controls so the stereo is useless when you take it with you (some off brands don't do this).The knob is the volume control, not the radio tuner. I personally love for the knob to be volume so you can quickly turn it down if you get pulled over or something.Overall I'm very happy with this stereo, the sound quality is absolutely amazing for the price. The fact that you can burn MP3 CDs and have as many as 300 songs per CD is a major plus. Added to that is the fact that it has a 3mm AUX Jack in the front so you can listen to ANY MP3 player or music device that also has a 3mm output via a male-to-male 3mm cable!(You can play iPods, Portable Cassette players, Portable CD Players, Portable DVD players etc.).Minus one star because the display has a very narrow angle of view in the daylight and since the whole thing has a 45 degree tolerance you may not be able to see it well in the daytime.

I had brought this product keeping in mind the amount of talking I do over the phone while driving. This product was installed by my dealer and the initial setup was smooth for me. The sync happened without a glitch, the voice dialing feature was done easily and it does recognise my voice very easily. Whenever a call comes, the auto answers picks up the call and I am able to hear the audio clearly. Nice product and useful for people who talk on phone while driving!

I installed this in my 2009 Honda Fit w/Nav. I bought the Quick Connect Products QCHON3 Non-Amplified Harness kit and the Actron CP5011 Panel, Trim and Molding Removal Set and both were indispensable for getting this job done. I have used a rechargeable bluetooth kit previously, but found it wanting. In particular, it had to be charged once every 2 weeks or so and if I stayed too close to my car when I left, it would stay paired, so if people called me, it would ring on the portable bluetooth device in my car and not on my phone. Also, it had no display, so I could not see phone book entries or status. The Parrot CK3100 took care of most of these problems. It turns off when you turn your car off, has a display to help you set up the system and observe phone book entries, plays sound through your audio speakers, and responds well to voice prompts. It never needs charging because it is powered by the car, was easy to install (with the aforementioned harness), can be removed without leaving a trace, and works as advertised. I downgraded it a star because people tell me that it does not sound quite as good as when speaking directly into the phone speaker, although I rarely have to repeat, so it is quite intelligible. Also, it is missing text to voice conversion. For example if "John Doe" is in your address book, it will not call john Doe by voice, or read that you have selected John Doe, unless you teach it with your voice first. Also, it cannot dial a number by voice, so if you find a retaurant on your GPS with a phone number you wish to dial, you must enter each number manually, or use your phone, instead of speaking the number into the microphone, like automated telephone systems allow you to do. Overall, it is a good product and I am happy with it.

I purchased this for installation in my 2008 Ford Taurus X after seeing others do the same on other online forums. The installation was a snap thanks to the quickconnect harness that was sold separately. I did not have to cut or splice any wires, and it was a breeze. It might have taken me a little over 1/2 hour. I installed the display on my dashboard just above my radio, and the microphone up above my rearview mirror. The sound is clear, and I have had no problems using it with my Verizon G'Zone bluetooth phone.

Since there are very few car cassette players on the market, one doesn't have much choice. This is a good radio cassette so far (about a month), but you have to open the face plate in order to insert or remove a cassette. I've had many cassette players and have never had to do this. You should be able to simply hit a button to eject, and then put in a new tape without having to open the face plate.

If what you want is a device that plays its one useful feature *ability to plug an ipod in* with such bad quality that it might as well be the radio, this player is for you! Now, if we get into the radio itself, its horrible. There's constant static. You have to tune to every station by hand. The station slowly changes on its own, probably contributing to the terrible sound quality and constant annoying static. Also, it is nowhere in the instructions on how to set the time. Anywhere. Lots of random buttons that seemingly have no effect include no reference to "time".Installation was also difficult and could not be completed with the instructions and tools they provided. Ended up putting my stock radio in, but it took me so long to install and figure out the terribleness of this item that they wont accept a return. Not the best customer service.Essentially, this item and seller are not good. Avoid them.

I purchased this stereo based on it's price and good reviews, apparently I should have paid a bit more attention to the details. This stereo is awkward in it's setup with the volume on the right and the station selection dial on the left. This is a setup that I am not used to and is a pain to change while I am driving.The other thing that is quite strange is the lack of radio station presets. There are six buttons at the bottom of the stereo and none of them besides the aux button are of much good.If you are only going to use this for an ipod or as a cd player then this is a great stereo, but if you listen to the radio even just once in a while then this is not the stereo for you.

sounds much better than the factory aerostar cd player. works fine. tuning knob feels a bit cheesy (to be xpected) not a bad unit. i even hooked an mp3 player to it and that sounded good. give it a shot . amazon has a great return policy if it gets damaged during shipping so what have you got to lose

"Recently I'd purchased Pyle 9" mobile TV model #PLHR96. I was to replace 7" Lilliput TV of six years. It's a good unit as far as the mounting and auto TV on feature. The remote was good looking and has nice install instructions. However; the picture quality was not what I expected. The line was terrible and can see all the pixle on the face. I will keep the unit and play with it for little while more. For the price can not beat, but quality picture wise, I don't think so...

The monitor works fine in our van. The picture quality isn't the greatest in the world, but for the price you can't expect HD quality. I wasn't really thinking when I bought this one that it doesn't have speakers built in, but that's my fault. Other than that, I haven't had any problems with it and it's survived our first vacation road trip.

This is one of the best products ever. I got connected an 8 gig flash drive to it so I got all my songs and videos with me at all times. The cord is in the back too so I got it hidden under the console in my Tahoe and people always ask how I got all that music stored on my radio. The screen is crisp and bright. The unit displays album art in a small thumbnail which is cool. The only for real con I have is its not really customizable and there's no animations for when you play music. I would love to be able to choose my own wall paper but thats not a feature. It also has six amp outputs too as for me I had to purchase the $50 adapter to keep my GM door chimes, onstar, and Bose quality. No big deal as for the adapter made the install a breeze. What I really loe aboutt the product is its at a good price cuz later on you can buy all the add ons such as the remote(essential), bluetooth, and navigation to make this a complete unit.

I bought this unit about a month ago. I have been very happy with it. Screen display is nice. DVD video looks great. The rear USB, in my opinion, is better than the front, as you can store a flash drive in the glove compartment with no visual issues. I WAS able to hook a portable hard drive into this unit, but after talking to Kenwood, realized that I was limited to 32 gigs with this unit. No big deal, I bought a 16 gig flash drive. One thing that I did not notice in the initial review or specs on this unit was the full functionability of the "Link" feature. This automatically categorizes songs on your USB drive by Artist, Song, Genre, or Album. With 16 gigs of music, it DOES take the unit about 3 minutes to load these up after start up, but I can deal with that. Album art is also displayed via USB. The only negative I can think of at the moment is that is takes about 30 seconds to boot up. This is pretty annoying, but from what I read, is fairy common with these types of units.

Terminal cups are really stupid. Maybe its just me, but when I was wiring my subs to the cups all I noticed was a little tab coming out of the back end of it. Since this didn't come with internal wiring or any additional hardware, I had no idea how to wire them since the little holes on the tabs are so small, you cant even push the wire through and solder it.

I put a couple of Kenwood KFC-W3012 Subs in this box with a Kicker ZX750.1 amp and it sounds really good. This box won't get the really low beats very good and you probably won't be winning any competitions but it sounds really nice. This is a good box for the price for sure, becuase with the shared chamber your subs still have power as if they were hitting against each other, but without the pressure it cuases on the subs! I bought it not knowing what to expect because of the fact that the only other boxes ive ever owned were sealed and they cause some serious low beats but lack highs but also cause alot of stress on the subs and i love loud systems so as a result ive blown 3sets of subs because of them so i bought new subs and a new amp awhile back and i bought this with them and they are really loud! lol!! the only bad thing is it doesnt come with wires for the inside of the box (from the box connections to the subs) but that was an easy fix!! but it still is a great box!!!!

I purchased this dvd/tv to watch while I am on my boat. I live on my boat at a marina in the summer. It's tight quarters (30ft) but good for the summer months. I got tired of getting movies all the time and/or watching the same movies over again. I spent a few hours researching for this portable tv. I am able to get three to four channels while in a bottom bunk that bearly gets radio reception. I put the attenna on the porthole by using the magnet to attach to a metal wine cork screw. It stays on nicely and helps get the reception. Some times the reception goes out but if I just move around the attena or hold the wire (put it under my body/ acting as a giant attena) the reception comes in clear. Considering the spot I'm in, it does a descent job. Nice picture quality, too. I also like the carrying case, even though it's made for a carseat, I have been able to use it in all kinds of viewing positions, just by adding a couple of small bundge cords. Boat Girl.

This is real handy for using out in the camper. The best part is that the unit charges up the battery while you have it plugged in to either a house outlet or to a dc power outlet like a cigerette lighter. You can watch tv as long as you want, as long as, its plugged in to either AC house current, or DC battery current,and it will do the charging of the internal battery while you are watching tv, so its ready to take outside when you want to.Internal battery last about 2 hours, longer if you use ear phones instead of the built in speakers. You will want to by a larger anttena, not a real big, the little one that comes with it is not going to work outside the city limits.

* I tried it inside my garage and the reception is totally garbage. Imagine if you go out to the city or street.

First off, I've had one of these for nearly two years [perhaps longer, I'm not sure...I've had it almost as long as my car!]. In fact, the only reason that I'm replacing mine now [with an identical one], is because I accidentally left the windows open a month or so ago and the darned thing got wet. Amazingly it still mostly works, the sound is just quite a bit softer.Unlike some of the other reviewers, I've yet to have a problem with static. Sure, you get a problem if you have it set to one specific preset and then drive into a new area that happens to have a very strong radio station on that specific frequency. However, if it's not strong, more often than not, the transmitter will drown out the new station. When I lived near Dallas, I used 106.7 all the time, and that's an actual legitimate station there! In my experiences, I've found that the available stations tend to be empty air stations in most of Texas and parts of Oklahoma. I've put this thing to the test in hilly regions, stormy weather, sitting in the hot sun all day, etc, with never any problems [until I left the darned windows down].Oh, and as far as the magnet goes, just attach it to the little screw that holds up your rear-view mirror. I've found that to be the best location for it. I don't understand what all this bollocks is about it having to be close to your physical antenna. I've got an old Oldsmobile, so my "antennas" are pretty much at opposite ends of the car, and they've always worked fine.Oh, and about the other transmitters interfering? My mum and I both drove on a four hour trip last August. They listened to my mp3 player the whole way there by tuning their radio into my "station." Not once have I experienced interference from other passer-by's transmitters or supposedly stronger radio signals. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I am pointing out that never once in two years of frequent driving have I had that situation occur.

this amp rocks. I hooked it up to 07DCVR124 and it pounds like hell. Every time i went to a parking garage it would set off the other cars alarm system and I got pulled over 3 times for "Harsh/objectionable noise" as written on my warning ticket but i gave it a 4 because on a really HOT day, this amp will overheat and keep shutting off but what i do is pull down the back seat so it could get some air to cool itself down and it works..

Exactly what I was looking for. I've had them for about a year now and they still sound amazing. I have them run thru a 300watt amp, getting 50w a piece @ 4 ohms. these are decent, but the tweeters are not nearly strong enough. first of all, they arent very loud or crisp, and they blow out at 40rms easily. i fried both my fronts... and instead of replacing with the same ones, i bought a pair of polk momo's 2-way coaxials. after i tried the polks, i unhooked the two working hifonics speakers in the back. the polks absolutely, completely, in a grand fashion, blow the hifonics speakers out of the water. not only can you pump 60wRMS and more into the polk's, the tweeters in the polks are just incredible for the price. i have damn near TRIED to blow out the tweets, they just get louder. needless to say, the hifonics are worth about twenty bukks, so if you get them for that then theyre fine.honestly, i was worried when i noticed these hifonics have "led lights" in them... and my worries were spot on. i think any speaker that puts out light leaves a little left to be desired in its audio output.

These speakers were priced right, but I had assumed that they would be of hgiher sound quality than they ended up being. They don't handle the bass levels very well (and I don't mean listening to rap kind of levels). I listen to mainly rock n roll, and they can start to distort if you don't play with the level.Not bad for the price, but the regular price would have suggested that they were a better speaker (I've just recently removed the "SUCKER" sign from my forehead).

I bought these speakers as a replacement for front speakers in my mazda mx6. I have a 600 watt amp running my inside speakers. These speakers suprised me and are out of this world amayzing when it comes to the sound i need. I have a very loud system and these are performers. They sound just as good as my alpine Type R series 5x7s in the back. As far as a stock replacement Im not sure how they would be and would probably recomend a lower wattage speaker for you. All I can say is if you want a bad ass high wattage speaker to replace a 5x7 this is it and for what it is is the best buy Ive come across in a very long time. Hope I helped.

I have never owned Pyle speakers but for the price, not bad, but not really great either.The Goods: everything is included to mount your speakers e.g. wires, grill, etc...the highs sound really clear, almost piercing (this may be due to my stereo settings); the mids are ok; the shipping was ok; I liked that the speaker accommodates 5x7 and 6x8 speakers frames--this made for an easy install.

The Bads: No bass response but this is probably due to my cheesy built-in amp/stereo; Arrived with scuff marks on one of the tweeters and bass driver; mounting grill requires specific rubber/cover screws to hold the grill over the speaker itself(not really a big deal but did have to go search for it at a speaker store.
Like most after-market installs on car stereos, where the rubber meets the road is the quality of your system. These speakers require a decent separate amp to drive the bass, mids and highs. The source unit does not have ample power to make these speakers sound good. My Kenwood distorts the bass (bass tuned all the way up)at only sound level 23, yes crappy but if you want to avoid any distortions --purchase a decent amp. Also, Pyle claims the drivers can handle up to 300 Watts, uh, maybe but I wouldn't want to find out.

Overall, I liked the price and well, you get what you pay for. If you want a kickin system your are gonna pay for it. These are not even in the same league as infinity or bose speakers. If you wanna listen to some hip-hop with bass you'll be completely disappointed(or you can wire them to just produce mids and highs). I listen to Trance and House and I was disappointed. But guitar-based music sounds ok( of course this could also be my source/stereo). I got all 4 speakers for less than $45.00 dollars--these are definitely budget speakers.

This is a nice product at a fair price. However you have to have the power behind them. Just powering these on an aftermarket head unit is not sufficient. I have the tweeters hooked up in -03db on the crossover and they get very loud but still seem very snappy and "empty". Having had this product before I know that if I turn it up past 85% I will cook the tweeters due to clipping from my head units lack of power. The bass is barely noticable even with gains turned up.I have had these same speakers powered by a hifonics 4 channel amp at about 150 watts RMS and the tweeters sound much "fuller" and produce a nice sound, clear and smooth. The bass is more notable too, much more oomph.I would reccomend them only if you have the power i.e. after market amplifier to drive them otherwise get a more effecient speaker with less power demand.

I have been in the retail hi-fi business in one incarnation or another for 30-years, including very high end 12-volt stuff in a previous life. I slapped a set of the 5.25-inch components in my off-road 96 cherokee and man they are really very very good despite driving them with the power from the head unit instead of any outboard amps. Now granted the head unit is a mosfet amp design but still..sheesh. Highly recommended as an excellent performer for the dollars involved. Easy install too.

AWESOME SPEAKERS! I read in a Auto & Sound mag that HiFonics is made by MB Quart, and the 450Wmax/ 90Wrms power ratings were awesome so I tried HiFonics to complete my system. These HiFonics Zeus 5.25 components replaced a set of Pioneer 5.25" 3-ways that had a nasty crackle at 20 watts. What a difference! NO crackle even w/ the gain on my Sony amp turned to max. These HiFonic Zeus take everything my Sony amp throws at it - no tweeter crackle or distortion. The crossover design is strange and oddly oversized but I managed to find a good mounting location inside the rear door panels. Crossover has selectable tweeter frequencies (+3db,0db,-3db)which works awesome in my particular application. I get more than enough highs out of my 6.75" components up front so I chose the -3db tweeter setting for these in the rear accentuating the speakers' midbass which compliments the 10" kicker sub in a sealed encloser in my Dynamat'ed trunk. These ROCK!!! At 90 watts RMS power rating - you'll be hard pressed to find better 5.25" components. I'm very tempted to replace the Pioneer 6.75" components up front w/ the HiFonic Zeus 6.5 components. Also, there are connections on the speakers to light up the speakers. I couldn't connect them w/out having to rewire my vehicle so I left them out but I bet they look SIIICK! EXCELLENT EXCELLENT SPEAKERS!!!!

I purchased two of these items for my little girls. First I thought I hit a jackpot because everything worked fine. And then 1 of the dvd players, after being charged for the same amount as the other seemed to last longer for reasons unknown to me. And sure enough, after four months, this particular unit which did not last as long gave me a blank screen every time I loaded it. I called the company since it was still under warranty. They told me to fax the receipt to them before they can do anyting. I have purchased many products that short live their warranty but usually after you read them the serial nuber they would be able to tell the rest. I thoughtthat was the benefit of technology. A paper free world! Well may it is just me but I always only keep my receipts for 30 days. If we keep receipts for everything we own then we might have no space for other bills. Anyway I was in a corner so I had to call amazon where I had purchased the item asking for a receipt. Amazon was very understanding that even though it was already more than 4 months, they let me return the product to them and refunded my account. Now I am just having my hands crossed that the second does not do the same. Bottomline I can't conclusively say don't buy this product because you might be lucky and get my still working unit but also there is a chance that you might get one like my other broke one. Just hang on to the receipt until the warrant runs out.

The idea of traveling 38 hours in a car with 4 adults and two children, two and four, was daunting. So we ordered the DVD player through Amazon, had a few kids' movies and off we went. This was a Christmas present for my daughter in 2008. First off, the headphones that came with it broke in no time. Last year, the car adapter quit working. I noticed the wires were exposed down at the end where the adapter plugs into the vehicle. This year, I noticed that occasionally, when my daughter put in a movie it would say, "Loading" for about 15 seconds and then would say, "No Disc". But, normally all I had to do was take the DVD out and put it back in to fix the problem. This past weekend we took it on a trip and it started giving the "No Disc" error every time. So, as I stated in my title, "It was good while it lasted".

I seem to be in the same boat as a lot of other reviewers. This player worked fine for portable use as well as in home use for approximately 15 months and then it died while we were on an 8 hour road trip. Basically, the disc would continue to spin but would never play. Overall, we used it once a week in our home and then on about 4 or 5 long road trips. I guess a company that offers a 90-day warranty is not too confident about their product. Do not think I would buy this product again.

I bought this so I would have volume control of my iPad. My head unit recently took a crap and my wife would't let me buy a new one. I bought this and a docking station, a little fiberglass an little bond, o had a mounting location for my iPad. Thing is I now realize I could have gotten away with just the regular CL-rlc. But this makes things expandable I guess. Works awesome.

I've had this unit for about a month now and I'm very happy with it's functionality. It sounds great and has a lot of nice options. I bought it to interface with my iPod and I couldn't be happier with the way it does. I do always keep it in iPod control mode because it's always going to be easier to find a song on the iPod versus any CD player. However, I just can't understand what Sony was thinking on a few aspects of this thing. First of all, as others have said, the display is ridiculously dim. You can barely read the thing during the day even with the contrast turned all the way up. My friend just had a $60 CD player installed and the display can easily be read at all times so there is no excuse for this $100+ unit to have an unreadable display. I knew about this problem before I bought it and even though it's annoying, I would still buy it again because I do like the unit. Now what really ticks me off is how easily my screen got scratched. I go on my first GPS necessary trip with this thing (only 2 hours of driving) and arrive home to find a series of scratches on the screen. What are they from? The power cord on my GPS. Yes, that nice smooth power cord scratched my screen to hell right where the time is displayed making it even harder to read in daylight hours. Couldn't believe it. Perhaps I could have been more careful, but c'mon, it should be able to take that. God forbid I ever actually wanted to take my faceplate off and slipped it in my pocket or something. I'd hate to see what would happen then.

I bought this car stereo to replace the deck in my 1992 Lexus SC400 that finally broke after 18 years of competent service. Early on, I decided I didn't need HD radio, nor Satelite radio capability. My Bluetooth needs were iffy, but I certainly needed USB connectivity, and easy iPod access. This unit provided that, at an extremely low price, while it was on sale through J&R.
Pros:
- Extensive feature set for the price
- File searching on a USB device is pretty easy, assuming you know what's on the USB drive
- Good sound; competent sound shaping capability
- Full low-level connectivity (front, rear, and subwoofer RCA connections) with crossover adjustability
Cons:
- TERRIBLE reflection issues, hard to read display; front face is a shiny convex panel that reflects EVERY bright light source during the day, especially the right passenger window; so bad I drop the rating on this product down one point
- Big display face isn't utilized efficiently; wastes space on spectrum analyzer display

Use a SC-C1 Sirius Connect Universal Tuner, or any of a number of Sirius Connect portable/transportable devices (sold separately). When your Sirius Connect device is connected, control and all audio come through the Pioneer headunit. The adapter sends station text/info to your Pioneer stereo's display, and lets you browse SIRIUS channels using your radio's controls.

This system can alert you when games involving your favorite teams are about to start. Just set up a game alert in advance, and you'll know when things are underway.

For anyone wondering what this is, it is a device you have to have to connect your Pioneer aftermarket car radio to the SIRIUS SCC1 Connect Universal Tuner so you can get Sirius Satellite radio. Most, if not all, Pioneer radios do not have this built in for some reason, so if you want satellite radio, you have to buy it AND the tuner. I purchased it to use with the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD 5.8-Inch In-Dash Touchscreen Double-Din DVD Multimedia A/V Receiver. Basically, think of your Pioneer car radio as a remote control, and this and the tuner as the actual satellite radio. Your Pioneer car radio can not actually receive a satellite radio signal and is only "satellite-ready" in the sense that it has controls for operating the SIRIUS SCC1 Connect Universal Tuner. My main complaint is that I have to purchase a Bus Interface or tuner at all, and really feel this is a waste of money and space in my car. Other radios do it, so why can't Pioneer? And why does it have to be so big? In any case, since this is the only option for Pioneer Car Unit owners, I don't want to give this product a bad rating since it does indeed work, it's just frustrating that you have to buy it to begin with. It comes with all the cables you need and a mountain bracket that lets you screw it into your car if you want to. I just connected it to the tuner and shoved it behind the dash. It could be smaller, but it doesn't take up too much room since it's pretty slim. On a slightly-related note, I should mention that the interface with the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD 5.8-Inch In-Dash Touchscreen Double-Din DVD Multimedia A/V Receiver and some of the other Pioneer in-dash aftermarket car radios is absolutely awful. If I had it to do all over again, I would just buy a Sirius radio and install it on my dash rather than use my Pioneer tuner. Read my review of that radio for specific complaints.

The receiver does a great job of working with the Sirius SCC1 and pulling in stations for playback on my Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT. Connection is easy and sound is great. The weakness is the inability to save the station name with the preset. Presets store fine and are persistent as long as you connect the yellow lead to the always on power and not accessory power (the bus takes care of switching the unit on and off, so the power must be always on to save your presets), but the presets don't display station names, so you have to remember what preset is what station. I'm not sure if this limitation is directly related to the supported head units or the CD-SB10, but I know the HD Radio tuner I use with my head unit does the same thing (stores presets but does not display the station IDs). If station IDs displayed, I'd give it 5 stars.

They sound fine! Good highs... almost too much for me! The bass is a little distorted when pushed but I don't mind that. I don't usually turn them up that loud anyway... I don't need or want the windows shaking. They fit right in my 1993 Ford Ranger... I bought 4. They are worth the money but they are not under valued. Price is about right at $30 and under... But if you are going to run an amp with them I don't know what they will sound like. My after market stereo puts out 40 amps per ch. and that is all they need! I installed them with insulation and plastic sheeting behind them. That cleared up the bass a little when they are turned up. But they work fine for a 48 yr old guy listening to Queen! LOL!

It seems to be a good product. The only thing I want to know is: How can I jump to other folder in this stereo without a monitor? If you have 3 folders in your MP3 CD, it reads the first of them, but it can't jump (automatically or not) to the next folder. I hope to be mistaken, but I tried and I can't.
Update: Bossaudio online support is really bad. I requested a ticket system account last week and... nothing at this moment.

I purchased this player so I can play audiobooks on MP3 discs and my IPOD. The sound is great but I sometimes find the button functions a hassle. The buttons can serve multiple functions and some not so obvious. The writing is small so that also makes them hard to read while driving. Since the receiver is relatively new I'm sure I'll get through the learning curve quickly as I try to do each new thing. I have the instruction book in the glove compartment and when I want to do something different... like turn off the radio/player I've had to check it out. I think it was a good buy for the price. I didn't want lots of bells and whistles and I got a few but I also got the sound quality and flexibility I wanted.

Lets start with the three cons of both models:
The CDX-GT540UI has blue face plate illumination while the CDX-GT630UI offers a green backlight option too. The problem is that both of them are incapable of setting the brightness of the backlight, that is it shines too bright. The prev/next buttons are small and hard to press. The main knob default functionality is setting the treble, bass, fade, etc. Now, that makes no sense to me since I hardly set these options. Pressing the main know should have the functionality of that of the quick browse button. As for the pros of the two models, both the CDX-GT540UI and the CDX-GT630UI handle (and charge) the iPhone nicely, which is invaluable for me when I get on longer trips. The music library is easy to browse both when the audio control is at the iPhone (iPod software) and at the car stereo. The sound quality is more than satisfying. I used to own a CDX-GT630UI a couple of months back, but I sold it and decided to go for the CDX-GT540UI instead. The reasons I like the CDX-GT540UI better are the somewhat easier to reach prev and next buttons, the 1 character longer LCD display and the easier to detach face plate.

Bought this unit for my birthday and thought it was a high quality piece it turned on but cd didn't work and installed the antenna and. Nothing wasted my connectors for this piece of junk maybe I just got a deffected one idk but sent it back for a boss DVD player that was the same price. This unit performs very well with a lot of common audio formats, MP3, MP4, WMV, among others. Common video formats are also playable, as Divx, Mpeg and Avi. Fast read of CD's, DVD's, USB flash units, SD / Micro SD (using an adapter) not sure if the unit is compatible with SDHC class 6 or 10 (soon i will test this kind of flash cards and update this review). The screen is very bright and shows an excellent resolution, at full screen, 16:9 or 4:3 view, you can watch without problems any movie at the middle of a sunny day.
Pros:
- Easy installation, all cables properly arranged with good quality connectors and isolation.
- Easy load of CD's and DVD's, fast reading of both class of media, even RW.
- Fast contents reading of USB flash drives, from 2Gb to 8Gb.
- Radio is very sensitive tuning distant stations, FM1 to FM3 memory slots (like 6+ stations saved at each slot) AM haves 1 only.
- Dedicated subwoofer connection.
- Very clear audio output, no distortion or noise detected.
- No dead pixels present in the screen.
- Iconic display of present devices, SD, CD/DVD, USB.
- Simple screen saver (color exchanging like 1 minute shift) when using audio from any of the sources.
- Medium size wireless IR remote controller with a lot of functions included, slim form factor.
- Detachable Faceplate.
- USB Port is powered, can be used to charge USB devices like bluetooth earphones, cellphones (nokia for example) without affecting the unit. No errors until now.
- Unit Suitable for offroad use, even driving on non paved roads, with repeated vibration, CD's and DVD's perform very well without noticeable skipping. Personally i prefer to use digital
content instead of optical, load is faster and not affected by vibration.
- AV in connection available, you can use it for a rear camera or a video source (hand video camera)
Cons:
- Sometimes, when using USB flash drives, unit re-reads content more than once (looks like an issue with id tagging)
- FM tuner can be too much sensitive to enviromental noise in areas with high voltage wiring. Randomly, some foreign stations cause interference with local ones.
- AM tuner does not perform very well tuning "ending of band" stations (1300, 1430, for example) even near of them.
- Menu fonts are very little, when using an Audio CD, description of track number, repeat function and total tracks on cd use only a little part of screen (top center)
Navigating through the folders of an USB/SD drive or MP3 CD is very challenging, because text is like is 2mm in size.
- Faceplate can be easyly scratched and is like a "fingerprint magnet"
- Power button is a bit tricky, i need to push near the power acoustic logo (near the "p" exactly) to turn on the unit, just upside the "mute" button.
In my opinion this unit is very solid, with very good price / value relation. Menu font issues can be very easy to correct via firmware update. Maybe is a good idea to load pictures from USB / SD as screensaver instead of plain color shift. Instead of the issues mentioned before, i highly recommend this product.

"Only get this if you are going to use it all the time..." 2010-05-29

The main problem with this product for me is that when there is no phone paired to it it makes a soft, but really high pitched beeping noise every 15 seconds or so. Its not noticeable if you have the music turned up, but if you have the music low (having a conversation with passenger, using gps, etc) it is very, VERY annoying. I keep the bluetooth off when I have passengers in my car or using the navigation system on my phone because I don't really like the whole car hearing my phone conversations and if the phone is paired while using turn-by-turn directions on it, it will cut the music every time it needs to give a new direction, which is more irritating than the beeping. Also, sound quality is lousy on both ends, but its useable for phone conversations. I would never use it to stream music though. As other reviewers have mentioned, the LED on it is super bright and way too distracting to have anywhere near you while driving. I had to cover the light with electrical tape, which looks kludgy. Works fine besides the points I mentioned, but NOT worth the $75 they want for it.

Installation was pretty easy. Has simple to connect power and ground connections. RCA's plugged right into my stereo. Couldn't use phone control lead as my head unit only has a "TEL MUTE" function; it needed to use the signal to switch to AUX. No problem, I do 99% of my listening from media from my phone. A bigger problem was the velcro fastening. The car side velcro's glue was of such poor quality that it wouldn't stick well enough to stay on when separating the two velcro strips. The unit side wasn't any better. The fastening between the two strips was stronger than the strip itself on the unit side! I pulled on the car side velcro and the unit side came apart. Absolute rubbish. Use a razor to remove the remains, and used contact cement to glue the unit to dash. Contact cement is applied to both sides, allowed to cure for 10-15 minutes, then bonds instantly when the two touch. Bond is like glue on doublesided tape but a bit stronger. Another serious problem was a super bright LED on the unit. It is bright enough to leave trails on your vision and endanger everybody during night driving. Clearly nobody at clarion had a functioning brain cell when that LED was spec'd. Maybe it can be dimmed? I put black tape over it. Unit works well. Took call and it muted the a2dp and switched over. For some reason the call was entirely on the right channel. Person I talked to said I sounded like I was in a tunnel, but conversion was completely intelligible. Unit gets attention of my phone every time I enter car and connects without hassle. I have a dash mount for the phone, so I don't need any kind of display other than the phone's. Would have given 5 stars, but took off a point for the superbright LED.

It was probably right there in the manual all along...this thing is about the equivalent of a bluetooth earpiece except that it stops the music...if you have a friend that has a stereo that imports the contact list, dials from the screen, etc. They do not have a NX409 or NZ409...the screen doesn't even know the phone is there until a call comes through. Don't even think about the possibility of putting your phone away and seeing the name come up on the screen. Not really sure that $78 + installation + where do I put the wired microphone = worth not having to wear an earpiece. Bluetooth music? I guess that could be useful if Pandora worked better on my phone, but it is much easier just to stick your mp3s on a usb stick or ipod. I'm about ready to put it on Craigslist and take my loss now. :(

The Pioneer CDX Player is the 2nd I have purchased. It is simply marvelous, and provides me hours of music as I travel by road up and down the mid west and east coast where radio stations do not fill the airwaves with stuff I want to listen to, the 12 disc changer means hours of music I want to listen to.
